While these are destructive tests involving the drilling of small holes, borescopes are a simple and quick way to see what is in a wall. While you cannot probe timber via the borescope, it can reveal termite mudding and even live termites in concealed areas. Our equipment is very powerful using an external 150-watt light source and this light is taken all the way to the end of our borescope using a flexible optical cable. The borescope itself is of the highest quality used in the aviation industry and can focus on anything from 5mm to infinity. Termite galleries are often found a considerable distance from the hole and it becomes highly destructive if used to check all concealed timbers, so is generally used to check specific areas. Because this is a destructive test, it is not normally used on Prior-To-Purchase inspections and if required, written permission must first be gained from the vendor.
